Esra Çuhadar

Associate Senior Fellow

Dr C. Esra Çuhadar is an Associate Senior Fellow at Inclusive Peace.

She is a Senior Expert for dialogue and peace processes at the United States Institute of Peace. Previously she was an associate professor at the Department of Political Science at Bilkent University in Turkey. She was Jennings Randolph Senior Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace in 2018 and Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in 2011–2012. She also formerly worked at Sabancı University in Istanbul.

Esra received her M.A and Ph.D. and an advanced graduate certificate in applied conflict resolution from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. She received a best dissertation award from Syracuse University in 2005. Esra’s research interests include inclusive peace processes, mediation, track two diplomacy and role of civil society in peacebuilding, evaluation of peacebuilding, negotiation pedagogy, and political leadership. Her research has been published in a number of top academic journals and in more than twenty book chapters.

Esra has also conducted numerous trainings and consultations in negotiation and mediation processes for various groups and organisations around the world. She has been working as a regional mediator for the World Bank in Turkey and Caucasus since 2011 and in the mediation roster of the OSCE since 2015. She is a core member of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network Turkey antenna since 2019.
