Suzanne van Hooff holds an LL.M. in Public International Law (with a specialization in the law of armed conflict), and Masters in Political Science and Contemporary History from the University of Amsterdam. Prior to joining IPTI Suzanne was based in Nairobi, Kenya, working with Conflict Dynamics International. In this position she supported the facilitation and mediation of high-level political dialogues within and between conflict parties, political parties, civil society, and other stakeholder groups to assist the development of sustainable and inclusive political processes and governance structures for the prevention and resolution of armed conflict in Somalia and Sudan. She has previous experience conducting policy-oriented research with various research institutes, including International Crisis Group and the Clingendael Institute in The Hague. Her interests include peace process design, informal aspects of peace negotiations, confidence building, inclusion of excluded and fragmented armed groups and other potential spoilers, peace agreement implementation, and transitional justice.
